  1. The shape of the cursor in DataThief changes according
  2. to the mode you are in. First of all is the normal arrow
  3. cursor. You will see it when you move the cursor to the
  4. menu bar or when a dialog is presented on the screen.
  5. Second is the crosshair cursor. This is the cursor which
  6. you see when you are expected to do something with a
  7. point on the plot you want to scan. The Crosshair cursor
  8. has different indicators in the upper right corner of the
  9. cross. These indicators are explained below:
  10. •    X-: indicates you have to click on the
  11.     lowest X coordinate of your plot.
  12. •    X+: indicates you have to click on the
  13.     highest X coordinate of your plot.
  14. •    Y-: indicates you have to click on the
  15.     lowest Y coordinate of your plot.
  16. •    Y+: indicates you have to click on the
  17.     highest Y coordinate of your plot.
  18. •    D: indicates you are in manual data
  19.     stealing mode. Click on a data point.
  20. •    E: indiactes you are expected to click
  21.     on an error point (only when error bars 
  22.     are selected).
  23. •    T: indicates you are in autoTracing mode.
  24.     Click on the beginning of the curve to start the
  25.     auto trace.

  27. The last cursor you might see is the spinning beach
  28. ball. This one shows during time consuming operations
  29. like auto tracing or saving a file to disk. As long as
  30. the ball is spinning, the Mac is working for you.

  32. something beautiful.
